5 Star NCAP Safety Rating for Vauxhall Ampera
The Vauxhall Ampera was one of the first electric cars to be produced by a European manufacturer. The Ampera has an extended range system making it one of the most practical electric vehicles and is eligible for the £5,000 government grant. Now the Ampera has become the first European electric car to receive 5 stars at the NCAP crash tests.
The Ampera exceeded the minimum requirements required at the crash tests. The Ampera surpassed the top rating in each category, including occupant protection, child safety, pedestrian protection and safety assist.
Vauxhall/Opel Chief Executive Officer Karl-Friedrich Stracke said, “It has been a long tradition at Vauxhall/Opel to offer highest possible safety standards abercrombie , and the Ampera impressively continues our leadership role in safety technology. The Ampera not only meets but exceeds the most stringent requirements for top ratings in each of the Euro NCAP test categories. This is a unique achievement we are very proud of.”
A great recognition of the work Vauxhall has put into the Ampera is that the Ampera is the first car to score maximum points in the side pole impact test, which has been mandatory since 2009. Being an electric car means that the Ampera had to be tested for electrical safety too, post crash electric safety aims to achieve zero high voltage current in an emergency, and ensure rescue parties can also disconnect the high voltage battery easily.
The Ampera is due to go on sale in the early part of next year, with a price tag of £28,000, it will be available from Vauxhall servicing Maidstone dealership.
